Alana Mon?t's The Things We Keep is an authentic dish on the concept of identity providing well plated food for thought. The Things We Keep is the third poetry collection by promisingly wholesome slam poet Alana Mon?t Tyler-Hammler (formerly known by pen name Ezm?r Matana) from her Slouch Trudge Hold. series and is by far the most giving book of the series as the book in it's entirety deals with advancement towards self actualization in the face of extraversion and is the last of the three movements of the overall journey (though it is endless) to actualization which has almost been reached after having shedded identities in In the shed. and trying for extensive change in In the tri. The Things We Keep... deals with themes such as communication mental health relationships and the correlation between self care and truth and is split into three movements: a reflection on the things and ideals that have been let go a collection of thought processes on the pursuit of personal cultivation along with the things and aspects of self that they are still 'trying' to let go of and finally the literary representation of the driving values that make a person -a chapter of sheer opinion and taste (but feel free to join their cult). Their snarky slightly off-putting candor is sure to be a great read.
